Interview #2: Charlie Jackson "Dynamic_Duo" and "Letter from a Black Boy in America"

What inspired you to create your piece?

"Dynamic_Duo" was inspired by my want to write a happy-ish poem, so I wrote it for my roommate. "Letter from a Black Boy in America" was inspired by a hypothetical scenario that kind of frequently lives in the back of my head.”

What is your favorite part of your piece?

“I really like that they are very different pieces but I think "Dynamic_Duo" in a way speaks to who the narrator of "Letter..." really is as a person.”

What did creating your piece mean to you?

“They both mean so much to me because they contain aspects that I have wanted to do for a while (form of "Dynamic_Duo" and topic of "Letter..." and it makes me really happy that I was able to do them both successfully. I'm really proud of them!”
