Erasure Poetry at Rhodes
On March 3rd and 4th, 2022, The Southwestern Review hosted a walk-up erasure poetry event. Over those two days, participating Rhodes students, faculty, and staff received pages torn out of an old, found copy of The Empiricists, a collection of essays on the philosophical writings of John Locke, George Berkeley and David Hume. Using white-out, sharpies, acrylic paint pens, and their own supplies, participants excavated their own poems from the words on the page.
